Orick/Orrick – I have the following bit of information on the Orick/Orrick family moving from Surry County to Pendleton District, SC.  William and John Orrick were living in Randolph County, NC in 1779 among a group that had moved from Surry County, NC, although a Orrick was not found on tax lists prior to that date; and John was enumerated there in 1790.  A considerable number of men came to the Pendleton County, SC area prior to 1790.  If you have anything on this family it would be much appreciated.

Hicks-Oliver – I am looking for the parents of  Mary (Polly) Stansbury Hicks b. abt.  1779, d. abt. 1854.  It is likely she was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and moved as a teen or young adult to North Carolina.  I believe she died at the home of a daughter, in Walton Co., Georgia. I have found vague information relating to a Samuel Hicks that was  possibly her father.  She married Elijah Oliver 18 Aug 1800 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., North Carolina, and eventually moved to Jackson Co., Georgia.  R. W. Meyer, 3821 Crosswood Dr., Shingle Springs, CA 95682 or Email:  caeroil_wildwood@mac.com

Cockerham – I am looking for information about James E. Cockerham. He died October 30, 1990 and was 77 at that time.  I would like family information or pointed in the right direction. Terrie Prindle, Email:  goodsgirl44@yahoo.com

Greenwood-Reese-McCann – I’m looking for information on the family of Samuel Greenwood who left North Carolina in the fall of 1828 for Indiana.  According to a history of Rush County, Indiana that was published in 1888, Samuel Greenwood was born in January 1804 as son of Bartley Greenwood.  He left for Indiana when he was 24 with his brother-in-law Eli Reese. I’m looking for information on the Bartley Greenwood family of Surry County.  I’ve found a Bartlet Greenwood family – possibly Bartley is Bartlet.  After leaving North Carolina Samuel Greenwood settled in Raleigh, Indiana and married Anna McCann.  The Greenwood family lived on the farm he settled for 140 years.  My mother is Samuel’s great-great-granddaughter.

Brassfield/Brasfield-Trammell – I am researching the Brassfield/Brasfield families in the counties that turned into Orange County.  I am looking for George Brassfield/ Brasfield about 1730; he had children Tom and Miley.  Wife Elizabeth married Dennis Trammell in Orange County in 1778.  I am looking for marriage certificates and any information on any Brassfields in Orange County. I would appreciate any assistance you could give me; and would gladly make restitution for any copy or research expenses.   Carl McNutt, 225 N Coulson St., Apt. # 119, Fruita, Colorado 81521 or email Teresa Smith smitht@co.surry.nc.us

Hunnicutt-Binford – I am trying to find a Hardie Hunnicutt b. 1780.  His father was Wyke Hunnicutt b. 1760.  His mother was Priscilla Binford b. 1746.  At least that is the info I have so far.  I think they were in Surry Co and may have moved to Prince George Co. as I have found a Deed of Emancipation dated 1787 in which John Hunnicutt emancipated his slaves.  The deed was witnessed by Wyke, Robert and William Hunnicutt.  We have been able to trace the line up to Hardie Hunnicutt.  Other than the fact that he appears to have served in the War of 1812 we can find no record.  Any information or a clue where to look would be greatly appreciated.

ROSE-HAMPTON-BAUGUES-HALLOWAY-SERENGER-SPARKS-HALL – What was the relationship of the various ROSES in Wilkes Co., NC by 1778, when Wilkes was formed from Surry Co. 1778? Emanuel was my ancestor and he left lots of tracks in Wilkes Co.; his Will made in 1794 and Estate listing July Term 1799. In his Will he names only his wife Mary (thought by some to have been a HAMPTON) and his daus, Kezia, who became Richard BAUGUES 2nd wife; Mary HALLOWAY, wife of John HOLLOWAY b. ca 1766, son of Stephen; Sarah m. a SERENGER; Elizabeth, who m. a SPARKS and Susanna, no further info. Emanuel left deed records, tax lists, and jury records. Other ROSES were Benjamin, John Sr., Hose, Sterling. Might the John Sr. and Emanuel have been brothers? In the 1787 Census Emanuel has another male in the household, could it have been the father of he or Mary or was it a son? No son has been found but a Joseph ROSE signed with Mary when she sold property after Emanuel’s death and before her marriage to John HALL Sr. I would love to correspond with someone that has more information to share on these lines. John b. ca 1766 and James b. 1770 but who else?); 3 f. all ages (we only know of Nancy, who m . Adam WAGGONER; who were the wife and other f., a parent or dau. ?). Stephen and wife disappear from NC records by 1790. A Stephen and Robert turn up in 1790 Census in KY. Did they die or go KY? Would like to exchange information with anyone researching these same lines.
